I thought the long weekend was going to be the last sharp stick in the eye...5 long days with shops closed, traffic, and every Australian off work to boot. All for the wondrous Easter holiday - of which I find mind boggling that in this non-believing country they pause at every church holiday they can. I have to think at some point in history they (Aussies) were believers, or maybe its left over from the Queens control.
Easter has always been a special occasion for our family, a time of renewal, refreshing and rising up. If it were only spring here and not fall....Without the powerful spring time prowess, Easter is just different...
The dyed eggs (brown) were gorgeous, Easter ham delicious, lamb roasted to perfection and bellies stuffed with chocolate bunnies.
With much success, we all survived school holidays once again and Moms single woman three ring circus show is over.
Well at least for the next 10 weeks.
Making Gnocchi with Mom....
PS:
Winter Uniform time!!!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the mandatory school uniform.
It is a mothers dream come true. Gone are the mornings filled with what to wear dramas! (Perhaps we have the Queen to thank for this too?)
Ramblings about our adventures as expats living "Down Unda" and now back to the land of Old Glory!

School Holidays Week 1!
As promised our first attempt at coloring brown eggs. The photo is a bit deceiving, since we didn't actually use our egg decorating kit sent to us from Auntie! Instead, we tried to using food coloring. It wasn't unsuccessful, but seriously - why are there no white eggs in Australia?
Coloring brown eggs is wrong and takes away from the very Easter experience. Next week we are using our egg decorating kit the dino one for brother and a dear friend gave us one she brought back from the Promised Land (thank you Jenny) both kids can have their own set of everything!!!
Once we got the eggs out of the way, they wanted cookies too. Why not? We made a batch of sugar cookies and they are JUST like my grandmas - best served with strong black coffee! The kids had fun rolling, cutting and coloring! Why not right!!!
With the baking out of the way - the kids have spent the rest of the week at sport camp (brother) and drama camp (sister)! Here's hoping the weather is just as gorgeous next week!
YUM!!!! Even mum thought so!
