Woodstock, UK is the coolest little English village. It is quaint and exactly what we thought England should be like. :)
The village surrounds Blenheim Palace which was a gift from Queen Anne to the Duke of Marlborough. The current Duke (11) still lives there and We even got to see him! He was there inspecting the new gift shop, cafe and Palace entrance. Yesterday, for the first time in 200 years, visitors entered through the newly built gift shop. (shame really - too Disney) After I recovered from my shock of seeing him - quickly I grabbed my camera for a sneaky photo BUT the flash went off. I was too embarrassed to go for another attempt.
The Palace itself is a breathtaking sight to see and you could easily spends two days there. The kids & I were there 5 leisurely hours and still didn't get to see two of the gardens. (rained out)
It is gorgeous! I would spend my time here over Oxford any day!
On the Rain....
It has rained everyday this summer, but yesterdays rain was torrential - no raincoat nor umbrella could withstand. The weather forecast said we are to expect, "a months rain this week!". Hmmm. Thats a lotta rain.
Definitely, need my Hunter boots now!
Despite the rain, we enjoyed the beauty of the grounds and imagined having a picnic with the sun shining.
