Well, in 6 short days Sofie will be departing Wichita to live with Grandma and Grandpa Carlson in Traverse City, Michigan. Sofie will enjoy the vast amounts of snow and exploring on her daily w-a-l-k-s with Gram, PaPa and Aunti Juli. It was not an easy decision not to take Sofie with us to Sydney, but we couldn't bare the thought of her riding in the cargo hold the 10,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean only to spend 30 days in quarantine. There is no doubt Sofie will leave a hole in our family, however, we know she is going to enjoy lazy days at the River with Gram and Grandpa.

In 36 days, we will depart Wichita, KS for LAX. We have decided to break our 10,000 mile trip up into two days to spare our sanity. We will spend December 28th night in Long Beach, CA for a bit of rest and relaxation before our trip across the Pacific. On December 29th, our flight departs LAX at 10:30 PM LA time. The trip across the pond is 15 hours where all but 2 hours , it is the longest night of your life. In addition, you lose 2 days! We arrive in Sydney December 31 at 8:30 am. We are fortunate to be able to go right to our new home (we are renting) where we will rest get some lunch and head out to the Tarronga Zoo for fireworks! So, this new year when your watching Sydney's fireworks on TV we will be thinking of everyone at home. We will already be home in bed when you are starting your new years eve celebration. (Sydney, is 17 hours ahead of central standard time)

WE are thankful to be spending the holidays with our families in Wichita, before our big departure. We will miss everyone and can't wait to have visitors!
